We start card sorting by meeting with internal stakeholders to set card sorting research objectives and understand how information is currently structured on your website.

The typical duration for card sorting is 2-6 weeks.

how we do CARD SORTING

We identify and recruit representative end-users who would use your web portal. This is followed by either in person or online sessions where the users organises the information into content groups that make sense to them. Using usually a combination of open and/or closed card sorting techniques we get to a deep understanding of the mental models that users use to locate information on the website portal.

We use either a web based card sorting application or desktop app to collect the data. We then analyze the results and use this information (along with insights gained from other research activities) to inform the IA for the website or portal.

We provide a final research report that outlines the card sorting results and provides you insights and recommendations based on the results.

We then use this information to create an information architecture (IA) that organises information on your site to increase findability for your users.

The IA includes appropriate labels and nomenclature for the portal. Conducting card sorting de-risks your investment by helping you to make informed decisions about how to organise content on your website or portal in a way that makes sense to your actual users.
