Usability Review
Understanding what barriers or challenges your product, mobile app, or web site interface present to users is the first step in optimizing usability.
Akendi’s usability experts will conduct a rigorous evaluation of your software or hardware product, mobile app, website, rich internet application, or service to identify usability issues and recommend design improvements.
How We Do It
Our Process
In terms of usability research, Akendi’s usability review is the quickest method of learning about key usability issues and how to improve them from the point of view of an expert, not your users. The Akendi mission is to put people at the center of everything we do. We would not conduct a usability review without gaining an understanding of who your users are, what they are doing and where they are doing it - users: tasks: context of use - without this understanding, a usability review is simply one expert’s opinion of how your site should be improved. You and your stakeholders are people too, so prior to the actual review, an Akendi expert meets with you and your stakeholders to gain an understanding of the pain points or problem spaces you are concerned about on the physical product, mobile app, digital product, or website.
Usability Review
Within the context of your business and user goals, an Akendi usability expert reviews the product. This is usually conducted at our own offices. Often referred to as a heuristic evaluation or expert review, Akendi’s usability review is a systematic process of applying standard usability heuristics or well accepted best practises to your physical product, mobile app, digital product, or website. Some of the heuristics we apply in our evaluations are:
- anticipation,
- autonomy,
- accessibility,
- consistency,
- smart defaults,
- efficiency of the user,
- explorable interfaces,
- Fitts’ Law,
- learnability,
- protect users’ work,
- readability,
- track state and
- visible navigation.
As we conduct the review, we are documenting visually and in writing, how your product, app or website measures up against our severity rating.
Design Recommendations
Our final usability design recommendations will be concrete and based on industry heuristics and design best practises. We will prioritize our design recommendations to help you plan and budget your path forward. If desired, we can also propose how to best implement the recommended changes, and we can provide the implementation services.
